Tahoe never ceases to amaze me! I remember when I first moved here over 13 years ago, it was pretty simple. Winter was from Thanksgiving through Mid-April and Summer was from Fourth of July till Labor Day Weekend - everything in between was to gear up for the next epic season! It doesn't seem so easy these days, does it?! I recently heard someone ask "What month is it?" someone replied "June-uary!" Sad concept, but true! Nonetheless, Late-Nite Productions keeps the Entertainment rollin' through town just the same as ever!
Reno's "Undisputed King's of Mobile Home Rock" are coming to town! Thats right, Big John and Scotty formed The Saddle Tramps in 1999. They started out as a comedy duo and eventually by 2000 added a drummer and the gun-slinging go-go dancer Suzy Switchblade. You can catch their corn-fed Rock N' Roll at Whiskey Dicks Saloon on Sunday, February 8th!
Next up, Platinum Selling, Southern Fried Hip-Hop from Louisville Kentucky, Nappy Roots will be visiting Mo's Place on Tuesday, February 10th. They have a new album out now and are best known for hits such as; “Awnaw”, “Round Da Globe,” and “Po Folks”. Nappy Roots has accomplished so much early on in their career with their first two album releases “Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz” plus “Wooden Leather” and were the number one selling hip-hop group in 2002. Don't sleep on this one!
Undeniably, The Reverend Horton Heat, aka Jim Heath, is the biggest, baddest, grittiest, greasiest, greatest rocker that ever piled his hair up and pounded the drinks down! The Rev is back in town for the first time in over four years and this time with very special guest, Throw Rag from Salton Sea, CA. Let’s be clear about something here; rock n roll, although essentially a thing of great beauty, is on whole, rather smelly and sweaty and dirty and will leave you with a hangover and a suspicious looking rash if you wake up with it the next day. My personal pic of the month - Wednesday, February 11th at Montbleu Resort Theater.
Blue Turtle Seduction will be visiting us once again at Mo's Place on Thursday, February 12th. Blue Turtle represents the rebellious outdoor spirit of South Lake Tahoe, CA (work hard, play harder) wrapped into electric guitar and mandolin; harmonica, harmonies, and adrenaline; drums, bass, and violin.
Californais' legendary Surf / Punk power trio, Agent Orange will be invading South Lake once again on Tuesday, February 17th at Whiskey Dicks Saloon along with local favorites, Anti-Panti and Cooking With Gasoline! Named after the chemical defoliant so chillingly used by the USA in the Vietnam War, Agent Orange is one of a number of bands formed in the highly active "So-Cal" hardcore scene of Fullerton, Orange County.
Lastly, we will be celebrating the Birthday of the late, great, Johnny Cash on Saturday, Febuary 28th for the "Johnny Cash Birthday Bash" featuring Hellbound Glory and the Cash Only Band, a tribute to the man himself. Hellbound Glory is pure Scumbag Country, as real as the grime and grit on old abandoned buildings in the towns like Reno NV, Butte MT, Aberdeen WA, and Fresno CA that the members of the band grew up in.
Check me out next month as I will be telling you about shows coming up with Andre Nickatina, Mommy's Little Monsters (A Tribute to Social Distortion), Guttermouth, Exodus, Swollen Members, Sweatshop Union, Pigeon John, Atmosphere, Dirty Heads, Afroman and more! You can also log into www.LateNiteProductions.com for more info and a big thanks goes out to Sierra at Tahoe for supporting the scene!
Till next time Tahoe - Keep the Vibe Alive! ~LateNiteBilly
